Gaming Websites

Games generate a hell of a lot of news coverage - and deservedly so. You probably know the bigger gaming sites, so here are a few of my absolute favorites, created by people with a real passion for gaming.

A fantastic resource for Sony gamers, and even those with no interest in the PS2. Set to grow into something bigger... Be sure to frequent the forums!
Up to the minute news across all gaming platforms, with a european skew.
All the Unreal series news you'll ever need. Another great community site untainted by Gamespy/IGN/Gamespot/Shinra greedyness
The number one site for news on Relic Entertainment games like Homeworld, Impossible Creatures and Dawn of War.
A collective of sites paying tribute to Looking Glass Studios - From LG titles like System Shock, to titles developed by old LG employees like Deus Ex
Half-Life 2. Easily the single best FPS so far. Halflife2.net - the best source for the best FPS. Visit the forums too!

Another very good Half-Life 2 fansite.

Artists who actually deserve the name (not like me!)

I'm no artist, so if you want some really pretty creations to look at, head over to the following sites!

Fred Gallagher's (of Megatokyo fame) excellent art dump.

I've always liked Kim's (Gadzoox on ps2fantasy) art, and she's got herself a wonderful site here to show it off on.

Anime / Manga

Anime is one of my newest hobbies (Currently, I'm big on Ghibli's stuff, but I like all kinds!), so here are a few sites on the subject:

The one stop resource for all Studio Ghibli (and Takahata/Miyazaki's pre-Ghibli) films.

Excellent resource for anime fans in the UK (well duh).
MAHQ is a great resource for a wide range of giant robot anime - details on series, mecha and mecha models.
A website with a nice selection of Anime wallpapers which crucially caters for 1280x1024 resolution screens like my own ^^

Webcomics and Web Humour
Contrary to popular (actually, "male") belief, the Internet was not created for the acquisition of naughty pictures. It was created for the distribution of a strange experimental substance known as "funny". To this end, there are many hundreds of pages with some form of "funny" embedded into their markup language. Here are my favorites

Probably my favorite webcomic: Random craziness mixed with a cohesive story and excellent characters.
Shameless Gamer/Toilet humour. Extremely funny and one to regularly visit.
Another shameless gamer comic with occasional attempts at some sort of cohesive plot. Consistantly amusing if not always hilarious.
The original Final Fantasy game. In sprite-comic style. Plus narrative and sword-chucks.
Hilarious english mistakes, mostly from Japan. Laugh out loud, then translate them back into Japanese and see who's laughing.
Cute little swedish guys talk about games. Occasional Ninja appearances.
A webcomic about Real Life. Sort of. I like it because the art is cute ^^
Unicorn Jelly The sweetest webcomic ever made. It may have finished, but the archives are still there for all your "Jelly who wants to be a Unicorn" needs.
The everyday happenings of two rocking egg type thingies and their pie.
Flash animations for the terminally bored and/or weird. Badgers, Breadfish, Lions, Magicians and Patrick Moore included.
Gamer humour played out with cats. Cute and naturally quite strange.
